The IQ app provides advanced mapping and automated functions, however it isn't equipped with no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. The smart-pathing technology allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is very effective however it can be stuck on the tassels of the rug.
During our tests, the IQ was capable of handling pet hair effectively, clearing an impressive amount of debris from floors with no flooring and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient with shag carpets, as it struggled to get at dirt and dust that was embedded in the fibers. It was able navigate chair legs, small spaces, website and even the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved, but it recovered speed and performed better than other robots that we tested.
The IQ is a better choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge and is capable of getting over obstacles. It has mopping tools that can remove sticky messes. On the other hand the iRobot feels better-built and has fewer components that require maintenance or replacement and has lower recurring costs and can even create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It can continue cleaning where it left off, even if the battery is out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be a big plus for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't one of the most advanced models, but it provides excellent cleaning power for affordable prices. The RoboVac 11S is designed for consumers with a tight budget who don't need a complex mapping system, or an app, to control it. The robot is capable of running for a long time and comes with the remote, a cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that appears like the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a nice stylistic departure from Roomba, Samsung, and Neato designs that are more practical and industrial.
In our tests, the eufy11S was very effective in removing large particles and fine dust on hard floors. However, it was unable to give high and medium pile carpeting an effective deep clean. The device is capable to hit people and furniture in its path. However, it is able to detect obstacles with sensors. If it encounters them it stops and lets out a loud beep so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and then get back to work.
Another fantastic feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode that allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction strength to match floor type and the level of dirt. It's also easy to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you'd like it to go.
Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the room you want to vacuum. The eufy can spend 30 minutes cleaning the area that it is assigned to.
Edge Cleaning is another option that can limit the time spent on each area to a maximum of 20 minutes. This will increase battery life. If you select this option, the eufy will move in a spiral, tackling corners and edges for a thorough clean.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 is an excellent mid-range robot vacuum and a top performer on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also exceptional. It is able to remove fine debris like rice easily, and it doesn't lose suction efficiency even as its dirt bin gets full. Its design is a breathable one and its air-sealed body will trap allergens to keep your family healthy. It has an onboard HEPA filter and a self-emptying bin, so you won't need to purchase additional filters or a separate bag for your vacuum.
It's not as effective as more expensive models, but is still great for deep cleaning and taking on staining. Two front cameras provide live feeds of images on your smartphone, and it features one of the best obstacle avoidance systems we've ever seen. It also comes with a huge dustbin, a long running time and a speedy clean-up that is free of bumps.
